1. Accommodation: The Marangu Route is unique as it offers hut accommodations at each overnight stop. This provides trekkers with a bit more comfort compared to camping, especially during colder nights.
2. Hut Stops:
- Mandara Hut: Located at 2,720 meters (8,924 feet), this is the first stop. It’s set in a forest area, offering dormitory-style beds.
- Horombo Hut: Situated at 3,720 meters (12,205 feet), trekkers often spend an extra acclimatization day here.
- Kibo Hut: At 4,703 meters (15,430 feet), this is the last stop before the summit push. The hut is more basic, providing essential shelter and rest before the final ascent.
